Culture Grams is a very fun and entertaining website that allows you to obtain information about different countries and even different states in the United States. Just a few cool things you can look at would be the climate of the country/state, the different population sizes, the greetings and cultures, you can even listen to the national song and what recipes they use there. It gives tons of history and information on the country/state. The information seems high quality and easy to navigate through. As an educator I use this for teaching social studies and when teaching about different cultures around the world. My students would use this site to obtain information and answer homework questions that I would send home for them to do.
This section of the EBSC is one that I would use with my children in the classroom. It is specifically for elementary children and is a joy to use. There are a list of categories to choose from for example animals, arts & music, health, in the news, geography, language arts, math, science, social studies, and sports. The quality is very good and the pages are colorful and easy to navigate through to the sources. Under each section it gives you other options to narrow your search and to find a specific article for your use. This site as a educator will be very useful because I can pull lots of good information that is kid friendly and use it in the classroom. The students will be able to use this site when doing research projects on various subjects as well.
Soundzabound is a wonderful site. It has a plethora of sample music choices that can be used for free for any project or lesson in the classroom. There is no popular music that I can find on the site and the longest peice of music I found was around 2 minutes long. Navigation is not as easy as the other web sites I looked at to find what I was specifically am looking for. As an educator I could put this music to a slide show presentation to try and incorporate a new style or method of teaching the class. Students will also be able to use the sounds to make a presentation not as boring and spice it up some.
